Back in Paris
Well first of all, I have never had a better overseas flight - I had 3 seats to myself and I just stretched out and woke up in Paris. It was wonderful.
I got to Fat Tire pretty easily this time - the bus I took wound through Montmartre and ended up by the Opera Garnier, so I got to do some sight seeing on the way. (I'm STILL mad at Franz for telling us to take the METRO from the airport last time... the metro is ok for SMALL luggage, but anything else... omg, it was a nightmare. Imagine me trying to lift a bag that I can literally get inside over a turnstile with a bunch of pouty French people waiting behind me and judging me. Ya. Fun.)
Most of my errands are done (I couldn't find a hairdryer, but I think I'm going to try to go to BHV - the French version of Walmart - sometime soon.) I have a cell phone - if you want that number, let me know :-)
I'm staying with my friend Ashley till I move in (Faycal is meeting with our landlady tomorrow). Ash has the most incredible apartment right off St. Dominique. Its about a 5 minute walk from the Tower, 1 bedroom with a huge living room. Like seriously, in Fat Tire terms - this is an apartment for at least 4 people, if not 5. I guess we have a tendency to live like sardines. But I'm really sad that she leaves tomorrow... good thing she'll be back in May.
So last night we went to a sangria bar in the Latin Quarter near Odeon. We met up with another guide, Blakely, who brought along half of his night bike. It was so much fun - I've missed these people. No one who works for Fat Tire has ever met a stranger. The new guides (or the ones that have been working here the last few months that I hadn't met yet) are so much fun. This is going to be a great season.
Anyway, I will post pictures of the apartment once we get it all set up. I have high hopes - not to mention the location is ideal. But till then, I figured some iconic Parisian cityscapes would be appropriate - the first is the Place de la Concorde at twilight, and the one with Ashley is on the Pont Alexandre III (you can see Les Invalides in the background).
